Madeleine's Story

My yoga journey started simply — I wanted better posture. But what the mat gave me was far more than that. When 2020 slowed the world down, I found myself in class after class, discovering something I hadn’t expected: sthira and sukha — steadiness and ease — both on and off the mat. Honestly not sure if growing an inch is in my head but my spine did feel like it lengthened. The most important thing during this time of discovery was I found myself standing taller in the way I moved through the world.

In 2025, I completed my 200-hour teacher training at Zen Yoga Garage — not to teach, but to go deeper. I was drawn to the svadhyaya, the self-study, and the sangha, the community of others who shared this love of practice. What I found was a richer understanding of my own mind, body, and breath — a foundation that has carried me through every unexpected turn life has offered since.

And then, almost without planning it, I became a teacher. Now nearly a year in, I bring that same spirit of exploration into every class I lead. Accessibility is at the heart of how I teach — options are always available, and you are always the authority on your own body. Expect a blend of slow flow, vinyasa, and energetic holds that challenge and restore in equal measure. Each class begins and ends in stillness, a deliberate dharana — a gathering of attention — so we can arrive fully, breathe intentionally, and meet ourselves exactly where we are.
